Sharon “Sheb” Lynn Aikens, 68, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Sept. 13, 2020.
She was born March 24, 1952, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, to Donald J. and Martha Frances Martin.
Shebby married her longtime friend and love, James Aikens Sr. on Feb. 7, 1976.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to announce the passing of such a spectacular wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She had done so many great things throughout her life. She worked as a social worker for Hospice, Home Health Care, Executive Director at Anchor House Group Home, Executive Director at Family Focus, Intake Worker for Erie County Office of Children and Youth, and Clerical worker through Erie County Office and Youth.
Sheb had an overabundance of love for her family and friends, and centered her whole world around them. She had witty charm, and a fun, humorous, and sassy personality. Shebby enjoyed many hobbies and activities such as playing soft ball, bowling, and especially enjoyed collecting and dealing in antiques. She also enjoyed volunteering her time to help others, was a foster parent, enjoyed music, and ran “The Fiddler’s Karaoke and DJ.”
Shebby is forever remembered by her husband James Brian Aikens Sr.; son James Brian Aikens Jr.; daughter Keri Lynn Aikens Anderson and husband Michael Lee Anderson; granddaughter Karissa Lynn Anderson; brother Robert Martin, brother Charles Martin and wife Drane’, brother Jerry Martin and wife Cindy, brother Ken Martin and wife Patty, brother Mark Martin and wife Patty, brother Rick Martin and wife Marlene, brother Larry Martin and wife Donna; sister Judy Baer and husband Robert, sister Marlene Host and husband Robert; brother-in-law Alfred Jack Aikens and wife Linda, brother-in-law Rex Aikens and wife Cynthia; and sister-in-law Jeri Aikens and husband Michael.
Sharon leaves behind 64 nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her son Shane Adam Aikens; brother Lanny Martin; sister Donna Martin, sister Barbara Martin; father Donald J Martin; mother Martha Frances Martin; and father and mother-in-law, Della and Albert Aikens.
A “Celebration of Life” for friends and family to gather will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Sheb’s daughter’s house (outside), 42379 Canadohta Lake Road Spartansburg, PA 16434.
Chinese auction/50-50/raffles will be conducted to raise money for a scholarship fund in Sheb’s honor.
