Eugene Gerald Crosby

Eugene Gerald Crosby, 71, of Bear Lake, Pa., passed away April 5, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family after suffering from a stroke.

He was born March 9, 1950, in Corry, Pa., a son of the late Gerald and Audrey Main Crosby.

Gene attended the Bear Lake Elementary School until 5th grade. He then attended school in Panama, N.Y., and graduated from Panama Central School District in 1968. He owned and operated the Bear Lake Mini Mart for several years. He also worked for Blair Corporation in Warren, Pa., and then Warren County School District where he retired from.

One of Gene’s greatest accomplishments is the value of family that he and Naomi instilled in all of their children. Gene and his family enjoyed spending time together either by playing games, camping or having picnics. He also enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s activities, chauffeuring the grandkids around or just sharing stories with them around a campfire.

Gene had a love for books and model trains. He was a member of the Bear Lake VFD and devoted many years as treasurer and helping with fundraising activities. Gene loved spending his spring and summers camping at Hemlock Lakes Campground with Naomi and their “C section family.”

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Juanita Bouch; fathers-in-law, Warren Cowan and Edward Bouch; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Haskins and Timothy Cowan.

Gene is survived by his wife Naomi Cowan Crosby whom he married Sept. 20, 1969, in Bear Lake, Pa.; four daughters, Tammy Head and her husband Scott of Bear Lake, Pa., Amy Nelson and her husband Don of Warren, Pa., Jennifer Cooper and her husband Kevin of Titusville, Pa., and Elizabeth Mitchell and her husband Kris of Russell Pa.; two sisters, Jeanette Haskins and Susan Crosby both of Bear Lake, Pa.; and a brother, Harold Crosby and his wife Marie of Jamestown, N.Y.
