Gordon R. Beeman

Gordon R. Beeman, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on May 27, 2016. He was born Oct. 31, 1929, in Wesleyville, Pa., the son of the late Josalyn and Clarence Beeman. 

Gordon graduated from East High School and Gannon College, in Erie, Pa. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Gordon was employed for 35 years with Union/Mellon Bank and was manager of the Union City office. He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars John Krol Post 6773, the American Legion LeBaron Post 237 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 882, all of Union City. He was also very active with other Union City organizations.

Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Frances E. (Hyde) Beeman; two infant sisters, Naoma and Arloweene; and older brothers, Ebert of Oregon and Howard of Waterford Pa.

He is survived by a stepson, Gary Hyde and his wife, Jean; a stepdaughter, Sally Hyde, all of Union City, Pa; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Gordon is also survived by his younger sister, Norma Jean Renshaw of Wesleyville; and sister-in-law, Lillian Beeman of Waterford, Pa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Gordon enjoyed many winters in Okeechobee, Fla., with his wife Frances and stepdaughter, Sally, along with their dog, Maggie. He enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Okeechobee and spending time with their many friends in Florida. Gordon, Fran and Sally always returned to their Union City home for the summer. While home, Gordon enjoyed golfing for many years.

He was able to remain in his home due to the kindness and love of his care givers, Heartland Hospice and his family.

Friends are invited to call at the Robert M. Glenn Funeral Home Inc., 62 S. Main St., Union City, PA 16438 on today from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 until the time of services at 8 p.m. Full military honors will be presented at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately by the family.
