Christine Ann (Dyne) Silver, 48, of Ardmore, Pa., passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019.
Chris was a 1989 graduate of Corry Area High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the Pennsylvania State University, Behrend College, in Erie, Pa., and a master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She held various positions managing library operations, resources and collections for law firms in Pittsburgh prior to joining Duane Morris LLP in Philadelphia as Director of Library and Research Services in 2001, the position she held until her passing.
Chris was a leader in her field and brought a vision and passion to her work that advanced not only the Duane Morris Library and firm but also her profession as a whole. She championed adoption of technology and continuing education for legal research to better serve lawyers and their clients. Her innovative approach, collaborative spirit, business sense and warm personality fostered long-term relationships within the legal library community.
She served as president, vice president and treasurer of the Western Pennsylvania Law Library Association and was a founding member of the LexisNexis Advisory Board. She had been presently serving on the Westlaw Advisory Board. As a member of the American Association of Law Libraries, Chris chaired the Private Law Library Grants Committee. She authored articles concerning legal publishing and technology and was a frequent presenter at professional conferences.
Chris was a magnificent wife, daughter, sister and friend. She had a contagious laugh and a keen sense of humor, a charming personality and a smile that lit up a room. Her passing leaves a huge void in our lives but she will be forever in our hearts.
Chris is survived by her husband, Barry Silver; her mother, Judith Dyne; her sister, Heidi Dyne; and three stepsons and their families.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, 128 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19103, on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 ,at 1 p.m. immediately followed by a reception for family, friends and colleagues.
