Carolyn E. Root, 55, of State Highway 77, Spartansburg, Pa., died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at her home.
She was born July 8, 1964, in Fredonia, Pa., a daughter of James Stull and the late Beverly Neely Stull.
Carolyn was raised and educated in Mercer, Pa., and graduated from Mercer High School with high honors in 1982. She then attended Duquesne University for Pharmaceutical School and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy. In 1988, she moved to Corry with her family and began working for CVS. Later she worked for K-Mart in North Warren as Pharmacy Manager and then Glenview Apothecary in Oil City. In 2002 she moved to Spartansburg.
She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Corry and was very active with the church.
In addition to her mother, Carolyn was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Tonya Stull.
Carolyn is survived by her father, James Stull of Sharpsville, Pa.; her husband, Mark R. Root, whom she married April 1, 1989, in Charleston, Pa.; three daughters, Elizabeth Yaginuma and her husband Hiroshi of Tokyo, Japan, Abigail and Victoria Root of Spartansburg, Pa.; two sons, Christopher Root of Spartansburg, Pa., and Marcus Root of Winter Park, Fla.; and two brothers, Alan Stull of Columbus, Ohio, and Daniel Stull of Corry, Pa.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., and attend the funeral service at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 921 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Andy Blystone will officiate.
