Genevieve L. (Babe) Crowther, 88, of 42972 W. Central Ave., Titusville, died early Saturday morning, March 10, 2012, at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Mrs. Crowther had been a resident of Corry Manor for a short period.
Mrs. Crowther was born March 31, 1923, in Oil City, a daughter of the late Thomas King and Genevieve Strodmeyer King. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Oil City in 1941.
She married Ivan L. (Ike) Crowther on October 27, 1945, in Meadville. Mr. Crowther died February 1, 1997.
Babe was formerly employed at A&P Supermarket and Thrift Drug, both of Oil City.
Mrs. Crowther was a member of St. Titus Church. She enjoyed gardening and bird-watching.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Crowther; two sisters, Elizabeth Giehl and Catherine May; and three brothers, Francis, Thomas and Robert King. She was the last of her immediate family.
Survivors include a son and his wife, James L. and Tammy Crowther of Corry; four grandchildren, Jamie Arthur and her husband, Dan, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael Crowther and his wife, Angela, of Lancaster, Ohio, Andrew Crowther of Bremington, Wash., and Bryon Crowther of Las Vegas, Nev.; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be received at a Christian wake service at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, followed by visitation from 4 to 9 p.m. at Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home, Inc., 203 E. Main St., Titusville.
A transfer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Titus Catholic Church, Titusville. The Rev. Walter E. Packard, pastor for the Titusville Catholic Community, will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Catherine Cemetery.
