Burdette A. “Mike” Hildum, 80, of East Main Street, Corry, Pa., died Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 2, 1939, in Warren, Pa., a son of the late Charles T. and Martha Dougherty Hildum.
As a young boy, Mike moved with his family to the Corry and Union City areas where he was raised and educated. As a young man, he worked for Ajax Iron Works in Corry prior to going to General Electric in Erie. Mike worked there as a machinist for over 25 years, from May of 1979 until his retirement in 2006.
He was a member of various bowling leagues and enjoyed reading. When he was younger he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kerr Hildum, on Sept. 8, 2012; they were married Dec. 12, 1964, in Beaverdam, Pa.; a son, Michael Hildum; a sister, Rosemary McGarrey; and a brother, James Hildum.
Mike is survived by three daughters, Carol Willis and her husband, William, of Corry, Pa.; Patty Mosher and her husband, Douglas, of Lakeland, Fla.; and Laura Thorn of Corry, Pa.; a son, Monty Hildum and his wife, Stephanie, of Corry, Pa.; two sisters, Ellen Rogers and her husband, Larry, of Union City, Pa., and Gloria Truschel and her husband, Greg, of Erie, Pa.; and five brothers, Robert Hildum and his wife, Sandy, of Union City, Pa., Kenneth Hildum and his wife, Kathy, of Corry, Pa., Clinton Hildum and his wife, Carla, of St. Cloud, Fla., Donald Hildum and his wife, Maxine, of Spring Creek, Pa., and Larry Hildum of Union City, Pa.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at Bracken Funeral Home Inc., 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and attend the funeral service there on Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. David Kuchta, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North East, Pa., will officiate.
Burial will be in Lawn Cemetery, Beaverdam, Pa.
