Audrey J. Sickler, 77, of Blue Eye Road, Spring Creek, Pa., died Saturday, August 27, 2011, at the Corry Memorial Hospital, Corry, Pa.
Mrs. Sickler was born in Pittsfield Township., Warren County, Pa., on December 9, 1933, a daughter of the late Charles and Twila Bailey Jewell.
Audrey was raised and educated in the Pittsfield area, where she attended Youngsville High School and then graduated from Sugar Grove High School in 1951.
As a young woman, she worked at New Process Co. in Warren, Pa. Following her marriage, her main priority became raising and caring for her family. She later worked for many years at the Spring Creek Post Office as a clerk prior to her retirement in the early 1990s.
Audrey was a member of the Spring Creek Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed vacationing at the beach and liked to read, play bingo and cards, and do crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Oviatt; a brother, David Jewell; and her grandson, Levi Brunst.
Audrey is survived by her husband, Leon K. Sickler, whom she married on May 13, 1955, in Pittsfield, Pa.
She also is survived by a son, Gary Sickler and his wife, Bonnie, of Spring Creek; two daughters, Ellen VanGuilder and her husband, Raymond, of Meadville, Pa., and Lori Brunst and her husband, Chris, of Spartansburg, Pa.; three sisters, Charlotte Black of Garland, Pa., Marie McKinney of Jamestown, N.Y., and Shirley Bull of Garland; and a brother, Edward Jewell and his wife, Bonnie, of Pittsfield.
Six grandchildren, a great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bracken Funeral Home, Inc., 315 N. Center St., Corry, and may attend the funeral service there Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Tim Smitley, of the Spring Creek Community Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery.
