The North East boys and girls swim teams started their seasons victoriously Monday evening, defeating Girard.
The Lady Picker Fish won by a score of 81-76.
Senior Kathy Herman collected two first place finishes individually and two more as part of a relay team. She swam the 200 freestyle in 2:12.55 and the 500 freestyle in 5:56.08. The 200 freestyle relay team of Eliza Clark, Tessa Briselden, Julianne Dowdy and Herman finished in 2:02.60. The 400 freestyle relay team consisted of Raegan Kane, Clark, Herman and Hannah Feucht and won in 4:11.26.
Feucht took first in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 25.87. She also won the 100 freestyle in 55.78.
Briselden won the 100 butterfly in 1:23.71.
The 200 medley relay team of Feucht, Briselden, Kane, and Dowdy took second place. Kane took an individual second place in the 200 individual medley, while Clark and Sarah Uglow finished second in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke, respectively.
The boys nearly swept the entire evening with first place finishes in each event but one, defeating Girard 103-32.
The 200 medley relay team of Jonah Sargent, Marcus Haeseler, Mike Reed and Drew Foster won in 2:01.56. Senior Chip Oberle tallied individual wins in the 200 freestyle, 1:58.68, and the 500 freestyle, 5:59.88. Foster won the 200 individual medley in 2:53.53, followed by Reed winning the 50 freestyle in 24.43. Foster placed again, this time taking third in the 100 butterfly. Reed also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.28.
Sargent took first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:02.74, as well as the 100 backstroke in 1:11.30.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Reed, Haeseler, Peter Becker and Oberle won in 1:46.29 and the 400 freestyle relay team of Foster, Nick Slowikowski, Sargent and Oberle won in 4:14.09.
North East was scheduled to take on Region powerhouse Fairview on Thursday, December 20 before the holiday break.
