On Monday, Dec. 12, the Pickers opened their home season with an impressive 52-21 win against Corry.  The girls came out quickly, opening up an early 10-2 lead, building the lead to 17-4 at end the first quarter.

The Pickers came back with another good quarter, building up a 28-7 lead going into halftime. In the first three minutes of the third quarter, the score was 38-7 and finished the quarter with a 45-7 lead.  

As the starters took a well-deserved rest, the rest of the team continued to play hard, giving the younger players plenty of playing time.

The well-balanced scoring attack was led by senior Reilee Bradford and junior Carlye Zahner, each scoring nine points. Bradford also dished out five assists, while recording five rebounds, two steals and two deflections. Zahner had two three pointers for the night, along with three rebounds, two steals and one block.

Alexis Rodenbaugh, continues to impress this season, scoring eight points, to go along with eight steals, seven rebounds, one assist, one block and one deflection. 

Senior Jordan Skrekla scored six points, with two rebounds in her first start of the season.

Jess Eby scored six points and also contributed with six rebounds, five steals, four assists and four deflections. 

Emma Penrod played another strong defensive game, with six rebounds, four points, three blocks, three deflections and two steals.  

Junior Kaylan Mayes scored five points, to go along with four assists and three steals. Belle Newara scored two points, Marissa Keith scored two points and Sarah Wakley scored one point during the game.

The win has the Lady Pickers off to a 3-0 start. The girls will play Mercyhurst Prep in a key, early region matchup on Thursday, Dec. 15, and will play Harbor Creek on Saturday, Dec. 17, to finish off a busy week.

JV girls are 3-0 as well, and the team plays at 6 p.m. before each varsity game during the week. 

On Saturday, Dec. 17, the games will begin at 10 a.m. with the girls JV team, followed at 11:30 a.m. with boys JV, then the varsity girls at 1 p.m. and the last game at 2:30 p.m. for the boys varsity.  

The Lady Pickers will be holding a bake sale on Saturday during the home game.
