North East’s junior varsity volleyball team took second place at the 15-team tournament held at Cambridge Springs.

The Lady Pickers finished first in their pool with a record of 7-1. Their first playoff match-up was against the home team Cambridge Springs. The Pickers easily defeated them, 25-7. North East advanced to the semifinals where they battled hard and worked together to defeat Saegertown, 25-20.

Heading into the championship game the Pickers took on Shenango.  Despite a great effort North East was defeated by a score of 15-25. 

The Lady Pickers attack was led by sophomore hitters Bailey Penrod with 21 kills, Gabriella Malta and Rayna Holleran with 16 apiece and Danielle Barnes with 15. Freshman Sydney Sosnowski also added 13 kills and 4 Blocks. Holleran lead the offense with 57 assists while Barnes led the way defensively with 30 digs. The Lady Pickers worked hard together to bring home the second place trophy.

The junior varsity team completed the first half of their season with a region record of 6-2. They are now gearing up for the second half of the season which started Thursday, October 6 at home against the Seneca Bobcats.
