The North East High School varsity volleyball team finished its season in the semifinals of the district playoffs.
The North East High School volleyball team met one more time this season to hold its annual banquet. The girls and their families shared dinner, a slideshow, some laughs and some great memories from the season.

The Mercyhurst North East Saint's men’s soccer season came to an end after taking on Monroe Community College in the Region 3, NJCAA Division 1 championship.
The Mercyhurst Saints wrestling team hosted WNYAC rival the Thunderwolves of Niagara County Community College for their home opener. The no. 13 Thunderwolves took an early lead and the Saints couldn't catch up. The final team score was 47-3 in favor of the Thunderwolves.
The Diocese of Erie held their annual Cross-Country Championships on Oct. 14. Over 400 runners from 10 elementary schools participated in seven grade level races. There were 22 students from Saint Gregory School in the race.

Seniors were celebrated during North East football team’s home game on Friday, Oct. 20, where parents and players were honored on the field. Although North East celebrated their seniors, they did not celebrate a victory on Friday evening, after a loss to Iroquois, 63-26, in region play.
The boys cross-country team finished third at the Northwest Region Meet on Saturday, Oct. 21. They finished behind first-place Harbor Creek and second-place McDowell. The team was the top finisher in its class.
The Mercyhurst Saints volleyball team ended its season at the conference tournament by going 1-1 with a win over Genesee Community College and a loss to Jamestown Community College. The Saints final record was 9-16.
Bad luck struck the Pickers on Friday the 13th, as the North East football team was terrorized by the Northwestern Wildcats, losing another lopsided game, 56-24.
The varsity volleyball team made the finals at the Cochranton tournament on Oct. 14. The Pickers finished with a record of 7-1 in the morning bracket play to give them a bye into the playoffs.
North East Little League was recently selected to receive a Community Assets Grant through the Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority. The $6,105 grant, awarded in September, will be put toward facility improvements at the NELL complex on South Washington Street.

Tony Webb of North East won the North Hills Golf Club Senior Club Championship in Corry, Pa., on Sept. 23-24. Webb shot a 79 and 82 on lightning fast greens to beat Larry Ames of Lawrence Park by six strokes. This was Webb's third Senior Club championship at North Hills.
