Richard L. Swoger of Ripley, N.Y., died at his residence on Nov. 17.

He was born in Brownville, Pa., to the late Dearth J. and Hazel (Hoar) Swoger on June 19, 1942. He was one of 13 children.

Richard graduated from Ripley High School in 1960, enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served from 1960-1964. He married Sandra Thompson and raised their children, Jason E. Swoger of Ripley, Wesley Swoger of Erie, Pa., and stepchildren, Darcie Best of Erie and James Brytes of Ripley.

Following his discharge from the U.S. Marines, Richard worked at General Electric for 10 years and at Electrical Materials in North East, Pa., for 34 years before retiring.

Besides his children, Richard is survived by his brother, Robert Swoger of Ripley; and sisters, Marge Butcher of Westfield, N.Y., and Sandra Wagner of Erie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jane Trippy, Hazel Swoger, Agnes Simmons, Mary Witt, Della O’Dell, Daryl Swoger; and brothers, Leonard, Dearth and Ronald Swoger.

There will be no viewing hours and his funeral service will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

All arrangements have been entrusted to Michael R. Fantauzzi, director of Mathews Funeral Home, 144 W. Main St., Ripley, N.Y.
