The first 25 adult preregistrations for the North East Community Fair will receive coupons good for a free coffee with lunch, courtesy of Boston Bean Café.  Postmark deadline is August 14.

John Mevik, the AFS foreign exchange student from Norway in the NEHS class of 1978 will visit North East from August 8-15 with his son. His American host “Mom,” Charlene Baird, will hold an open house for him at her house at 15 N. Washington St. on Thursday, August 12 from 7-9 p.m. Anyone who would like to see John is welcome. A memorial dinner for Kristy Spinks Newlin will be held Saturday, August 14 at Holy Rosary gymnasium, 2701 East Ave. in Erie. Cost is $5 for dinner and pop, BYOB. North East High School class of 1978 will hold a 50th birthday picnic and John Mevik reunion on August 14 from 4-11 p.m. The event will take place at Gravel Pit Park in Pavilion B. Cost is $25 per person or $15 after 7 p.m. Call Sara Frye for info at 725-3324.

South Ripley United Methodist Church on NE Sherman Road will hold a 125th anniversary celebration on August 15. The evening will begin with a program at 3 p.m., a free spaghetti dinner (donations appreciated) at 4 p.m. and Dan Schall in concert at 6 p.m.

Harborcreek First Presbyterian Church will accept clean clothing and usable, working items for its Rummage Sale to be held September 9-11. Call 899-1031 for information.
