Members of the North East Crazy Quilters guild will host a celebration commemorating the 25th anniversary of the guild’s first meeting. The birthday party will be held at the North East First Presbyterian Church on the regular meeting night, Monday, February 8 at 7 p.m. All current members, as well as past and especially charter members, are invited to attend. A Soup & Salad Luncheon will be held at Park United Methodist Church, 30 N. Lake St. on Friday, January 29 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Beef vegetable soup, gelatin salad, pie and beverage available for $6. Take-out quarts $6, pints $3. Call 725-4105 with questions.

Anyone interested in competing in the cornhole tournament at Lovin’ Downtown Wine & Food Festival (age 21 and older) may sign up before the event by calling Barb Blount at 725-3539. Teams consist of two people, entry fee is $5 per person.

The North East boys basketball team is selling tickets of chance for a basket containing over $500 in gift cards and gift certificates from local businesses. The basket will be on display at Boston Bean Café January 15-20 with tickets available for $1 apiece, 3 tickets for $2 or 20 ticktes for $5. Tickets are also on sale at home basketball games. The drawing will be held at the final home game, February 19.
