Joyce N. Lagner, age 84, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Twinbrook Medical Center. She was born in Erie, June 28, 1927, daughter of the late Clarence L. Mungle and Mabel Harrington Mungle Mays.

Joyce was a graduate of Lawrence Park High School, Class of 1945. She worked at General Electric for 13 years, where she was a bowler on the women’s league, and she enjoyed volleyball. Joyce was an avid gardener, canner and reader of mystery books.

She enjoyed word searches, sewing and embroidering as well as knitting. Joyce knitted items, which were donated and sent to troops overseas. She loved animals, and enjoyed her pets Loyla (her dog) and Bandit and Molly (her cats).

Joyce was a member of Lawrence Park United Methodist Church; and was a member of the Lawrence Park Alumni, attending monthly luncheons with her peers and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lagner who died in 2007; two sisters, Virginia Mungle and Marjorie May; and two brothers, Robert and Donald Mungle.

She is survived by a son, Bruce Mungle (Heather) of Roanoke, Va., four daughters, Christine Sczepanski (Mark) and Linda Stewart (Joel) all of Harborcreek, Karen Stewart of North East and Tammy Pottorf of Erie; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Black of Bowling Green, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were handled by Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Twinbrook for their wonderful care of Joyce during her stay there. She was truly blessed to be in a place with such compassionate people.
