Young swimmers will have the opportunity again this summer to participate in the North East Recreation Commission-sponsored Summer Swimming Team.

The competitive swim team is open to all children. Swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) backstroke and one length freestyle without assistance and in fair form.

NEHS coach Bill Mackin will lead the program with assistance from Kim Girts.

Practices will be held Monday through Friday starting Monday, June 13. Swimmers age 11 and older will practice from 8-9 a.m. and swimmers age 10 and younger will practice from 9-10 a.m. All practices will be held at the North East Elementary Center pool.

The season runs from June 13 through July 28.

Cost for North East residents is $50 for the first child in a family and $40 for each additional child. Cost for non-North East residents is $60 for the first child and $50 for each additional child.

Fees are due upon registration. Swimmers may register on Wednesday, June 1 from 6-7 p.m. and Tuesday, June 7 from 6-7 p.m. on the pool deck. These are tryout times – any individual that has not been on the summer team or the winter intramural team must try out. Please bring swimsuit, goggles and towel.

Registration forms are also available at North East schools. All registrations must be received by Monday, June 13.
