Boy Scout Troop 82 has organized a 10k run and 5k run/walk to be held Sunday, September 2 at Eaton Reservoir at Black and Ashton Roads in North East Township.

The 5k course is a flat grass and gravel course while the 10k course is mostly single tract running through woods, fields and along paths.

Online registration is available at Cost is $20 for registrations received before August 24 and includes a T-shirt. Day of race cost is $25 with no shirt guarantee.

Water will be provided on the course in three places, along with post-race snacks. 5k runners and walkers will use the grass/gravel multi-purpose trail around the reservoir. Keep the water to the right and you can’t get lost on the loop course. This is great for entry-level trail runners.

10 runners will run on grass, woodland terrain, dirt, leaves etc. on a majestic winding well-marked trail through the woods around the reservoir. Much of the run is completed on single tract trails. There will be plenty of opportunities to pass the competition on straight-aways. This is a run that will take you through pines, hardwoods and open areas with some challenges of minor hills. The course is largely based on trail biking routes existing onsite.

5k runners will begin the race at 9 a.m. with 10k runners starting at 9:10 a.m. Walkers will begin at 9:15 a.m. The staggered start will alleviate most runner cross traffic between 5k and 10k runners.

A prize will be offered to the first male and first female finisher of both running events. Any proceeds remaining after paying the cost of the race will benefit St. Gregory Boy Scout Troop 82 of North East.
