Lace up your running shoes, pick out your best Halloween costume, and come have fun on Saturday October 22 for the Second Annual Snap Fitness 5k Halloween Grand Slam Run/Walk to benefit the North East Little League. 

The 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) run and walk will start and finish at Gibson Park in Downtown North East.  The 5k run will start at 9 a.m. with registration starting at 7:30 a.m., rain or shine. The walk will begin shortly after the start of the run.

Mr. Rob Miller, the General Manager of Snap Fitness in North East, is working with the North East Little League to raise funds by sponsoring the 5 kilometer run and walk. Proceeds raised from the run/walk will be used to provide children with new equipment and to improve the playing fields and facilities at North East’s Denny Lowes Fields for the 2012 season.

Miller feels strongly about helping out his community and encouragine the citizens of North East together to help each other. As the General Manager of several Snap Fitness locations throughout Erie County, Miller feels a great way to get individuals and families together is with some fun exercise.

All run and walk participants are encouraged to wear a Halloween costume during the run and walk. Those participating in the 5k Run/Walk who wear a costume will be judged by officials during the race. The runner or walker judged to be wearing the Most original and most creative costume will win a prize.

Medals will also be given for the Best Male and Female runners and walkers and for the top three (3) finishers in the following male and female age categories; Best overall, 15 & under, 16 – 25, 36-45, 46-55, 56-66 and 65 & over. Applications are available at any Snap Fitness Erie County Location, at the North East Chamber of Commerce, on the Erie Runners Club website or by emailing nepa@snapfitness.com.
