Garth E. May, age 92, of Harborcreek Township,passed away March 17, 2010 in Mount Dora, Fla. He was born in Venango, Pa., April 8, 1917, son of the late John and Eva Giddings May.

He is survived by his four sons, Richard May, Dwight May, Duane May, and Raymond May, two grandchildren Cora Beth Surrenna and William May, his two step-grandchildren Dr. Caroline Goss DVM and Marilee Genest, and his great-granddaughter Taylor May. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Steve Sekula, and two sisters-in-law Louise (Hubert) Smith and Marian McGahan Marinelli.

In addition to his parents, Garth was preceded in death by his two wives Lucille McGahen May and Marie Peters May, two brothers Alden and Merton May, and infant twins, Michael and Margaret May.

In his 63 years in Harborcreek Township, Garth served with the Harborcreek Volunteer Fire Department both as a Chief and firefighter. He was active in the Boy Scouts receiving the “Scouters Key” for his many hours of volunteer service. Garth was a Mason with the Tyrian-Commonwealth Lodge #362. He was the Former Manager of the Stock Farm after which he become a mechanic for PennDOT.

Garth had 30 good years of retirement spending some of his time in Florida. He was a long time member of the Harborcreek First Presbyterian Church.

The G. R. Bailey Funeral Home 4396 Iroquois Avenue handled funeral arrangements.
