The sixth annual Miller Mistletoe Mile is scheduled for Sunday, December 23.

This fun family event is sponsored by the North East Cross Country team and the North East Chamber of Commerce.

Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to participate in this annual Christmas tradition that gives back to someone or something in the community.

This year’s recipient is Sandy Neil, who was recently diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. This debilitating disease affects the motor neurones. Sandy is the mother of Maggie and Tori Neil, both North East graduates and athletes.

The Miller Mistletoe Mile has given back to a variety of causes over the years including North East School District, Community Nurses Hospice Program, the Autistic Support Classroom, and Mary Knight-Strong to name a few.

Participants can pre-register at or can pick up a registration form at the Chamber of Commerce or print them from the NESD website.

Race day registration starts at 5:30 p.m. with the race at 7 p.m.

All runners will be treated to hot chocolate and cookies at the finish.
