Patti Kirschner, who died recently after a long battle with breast cancer, had talked frequently over the last few years about the need for an outdoor basketball hoop at the St, Greg’s Parish School.
At the 2013 October School Advisory Board meeting, the Board unanimously voted to proceed with that project as soon as adequate funding could be raised, and to name it in her honor as “Kirschner Kourt.”
Preliminary estimates for the construction of a 30’ x 30’ concrete slab, purchase and installation of a playground-appropriate basketball goal, striping, and minimal restorative landscaping, totaled in the neighborhood of $4-5,000. The new basketball court would be available to the entire community for enjoyment.
Given that Patti’s energy, enthusiasm, talents friendship, and kindness touched so many North East community friends and families, in addition to probably all St Greg’s families, the Board felt it would be appropriate to publicize this fundraising appeal to both the Church membership and the entire North East community.
If you would like to be a part of seeing this dream of Patti’s come to fruition, please send your tax-deductible contribution of any amount to St. Gregory Parish, 136 W. Main Street, North East, PA 16428. Checks should be made payable to “St. Gregory Parish;” noting “Kirschner Kourt” on the memo line.
