Low Income Medicare recipients may be eligible for extra help with costs associated with their healthcare and prescription drugs.

There are programs that help people with Medicare save money each year. These programs help people with limited income and resources to pay some or all of their Medicare premiums and may pay Medicare deductibles and coinsurance. Help is also available to eligible Medicare recipients for help with lowering their prescription co-pays, and to cover the cost of the Donut Hole (gap in coverage).

Many Medicare recipients are not aware they are eligible and could be receiving assistance now.

Your local Apprise program administered by the GECAC Erie County Area Agency on Aging can help Medicare recipients determine their eligibility and provide assistance with enrollment.  To find out if you may be eligible, call the GECAC Apprise program at 459-4581, extension 494.
