Sunday, May 30

Cooking with Katie: 1:30 p.m. at Parable Farms, 9582 NE Sherman Rd., Ripley. Wild Edibles & Medicinals. This class includes an herb walk plus samples of our findings in teas, vegetarian stir-fry and soup made with a free-range chicken from the farm! Cost is $15 per person.

Memorial Day service: 7 p.m. at Park United Methodist Church, 30 N. Lake St. Join us in remembering and showing appreciation for dedicated lives of those who fought to preserve our freedom and have gone before us.

Monday, May 31

Memorial Day Remembrance Services & Parade: 8:45 a.m. service in Gibson Park, followed by a parade to Oak Hill Cemetery, west of town. Services to be conducted in Oak Hill Cemetery also.

Tuesday, June 1

Bridge: Noon at North East Senior Center, 50 E. Main St.

Twice-a-week garbage pick-up begins in North East Borough

Wednesday, June 2

Bingo: Noon at North East Senior Center, 50 E. Main St.

Set the Sun with the Arts: 6-9 p.m. at Freeport Yacht Club, hosted by North East Arts Council. Admission is free for current members, $10 for non-members. Join at the event for $20 per person, $30 for families and $40 for corporate.

Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous Meeting: 6:30-8 p.m. at Park United Methodist Church, 30 N. Lake St. If you have trouble controlling the way you eat, are underweight or overweight, or are obsessed with weight or dieting, you are welcome to attend. No weigh-ins. Baccalaureate service: 7 p.m., North East High School auditorium. The public is invited as the Clergy Council of North East honors this year’s graduates. Jen Heinrich will deliver an address to the graduates, parents and community members.
