Send yourself a postcard as a reminder – you won’t want to miss this.

From 6 to 9 p.m. July 22, Hearthside Framing Gallery in North East will host an opening reception for local artist and photographer Tajana Roehl.

In all, 18 pieces of Roehl’s photo art and nature photography will be on display at the gallery through Aug. 31.

“There are so many ways of seeing everything,” said Roehl, whose work offers a fresh perspective on the Lake Erie region’s beauty and has recently been featured in a series of postcards.

In addition to traditional nature photography, Roehl specializes in embellished photos.

Enhancing photos has always been a passion, she said. From the early days of hands-on techniques like lacing, cutting and tinting images, Roehl has progressed to embellishment with Photoshop. The result – with vivid color, flowing lines and endless imagination – is a one-of-a-kind.

Roehl’s artistic progression has paralleled her life.

Born in Zagreb, Yugoslavia in 1963, her passion for photography began in high school in Cleveland and expanded into various mediums including graphic art, pearl-knotting and beading, painting and dyeing, quilting and even wood and bead weaving.

Prior to pursuing her artistic passions fulltime, Roehl’s career included professional photography, graphic design and technology positions in Cleveland and Chicago.

Today, Roehl’s prints, note cards, postcards, giclée, knotted pearls and fine minerals can be found in galleries and specialty retailers in northeast Ohio, northwestern Pennsylvania and western New York.

See Roehl’s captivating way of capturing our region’s grandeur at Hearthside Framing Gallery, 15 W. Main St. in North East from July 22 – Aug. 31 or online at www.roehlartists.com.
