The North East Community Fair will hold its annual Amateur Wine Judging at the North East Township Building on Friday, September 10 beginning at 6 p.m.  Anyone interested in registering their homemade wine in this competition may do so by dropping it off at Presque Isle Wine Cellars by Wednesday, September 8. Or, contact Kevin and Peggie Sinnott at 898-2450. Print out a registration form and find information regarding the amateur wine division at the fair’s website at www.northeastcommunityfair. org.

The NE Chamber is looking for volunteers for the 29th Annual Wine Festival, September 24-26. Please sign up at the Chamber weekdays 9-5. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church ladies have set Saturday, November 6 as the date for their annual Chinese auction fundraiser. It will be held in the fellowship hall at the church, 1500 Freeport Rd. from 5-7 p.m. with drawings at 7:15 p.m. Donations are graciously accepted for auction items. Please drop off donations at the church office weekdays from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Due to budget constraints, the North East School District will not host one aspect of its Annual Opening Football Game Celebration on Friday, September 3.  The hot dog, chips, and food previously included during this event will be put on a temporary moratorium. NESD thanks sponsors for their support in the past, and looks forward to once again offering this aspect of our community celebration in the future.
