Patrick T. Cagnoli, 77, of Erie, died Friday, August 13, 2010, at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born April 30, 1933, in Erie, son of the late Dominick F. and Pearl Domowicz Cagnoli. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Cagnoli.

Immediately following his graduation from Cathedral Prep in 1951, Pat joined the U.S. Navy and served until 1955 on the USS Mellette. He then studied at Gannon University and Mercyhurst College. He worked for the NY Department of Corrections for many years before changing careers and joining the U.S. Army in 1979 where he was a Licensed Practical Nurse serving as Chief Wardmaster and assisting in assembling combat support hospitals. He spent time as a volunteer at the VA Medical Center along with organizing many different volunteer organizations. He was an active volunteer throughout his lifetime.

Pat administered flu shots for 18 years, and served as the area manager for Maxim Health Care from 1996 to 2000, chairman of the Harborcreek Parks and Recreation Committee, board member of the Erie Civic Music Assoc., president of the Seawolves Booster Club for two years, and also headed the Adult Alter Servers at St. Mark’s. He was involved in baseball and basketball during his life, serving as a referee, umpire, coach or organization founder. One of his most proud accomplishments was being founder of Attica Youth Athletics in Attica, N.Y. Pat was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 13826.

He was a member of the American Legion Carl Neff Post 571, the Maennerchor and Siebenbuerger Clubs. He was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. Mark’s Church. Family and friends were very important to Pat and he was the glue that held the family together.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dolores Andrzejewski Cagnoli; three daughters, Cynthia Candidus and husband James of Marlboro, N.Y., Pamela Norcross and husband Daniel of Attica, N.Y. and Karen Dame and husband Lawrence of Gloucester, Va.; two sons, Stephen Cagnoli and wife Francie of Jefferson, Ohio and Michael Cagnoli of Erie; a sister, Carol Machinski and husband Thomas of Erie; a brother, Dominic Cagnoli of Harborcreek; seventeen grandchildren, Peter Candidus, Jason and Julie Norcross, Joshua and Erin Norcross and Jerod Norcross, Darin, Katie and Christopher Clark, Luke and Corinne Dame, Philip, Eric, Kristen and Kyle Cagnoli, Amber and Breanne Cagnoli; and three great-grandchildren, Maya, Maddox and Daniel Norcross; an aunt, Lena Cagnoli of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
