Barry D. Shick, age 58, of Harborcreek, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 4, 2011. He was born in Erie on January 17, 1953, the son of Almeda Shick and the late Rev. Joseph Shick.

Barry was employed with General Electric Co. for 36 years until his retirement in 2007. He was a dedicated Pittsburgh sports fan. Barry was raised in the First Church of God. He enjoyed time with his family and grandchildren and he was affectionately known as Tuff to his family and friends. He also loved his dog Austin, who recently passed away.

Besides his mother, Barry is survived by his wife, Christine; three children, Sara Warnick, Carrie Cady (Kory) and Daniel Shick, all of Erie; two sisters, Constance Dornhoefer and Patricia Borges and his twin brother, Larry Shick (Melody), all of Erie; two grandchildren, Emily and Nathan Warnick; a special nephew, Davey Borges; and other nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father; a baby brother, Joseph; his brothers-in-law, David Borges and Howard Dornhoefer; and a nephew, Joseph Dornhoefer.

A private service will be held by the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of NWPA, 2816 Elmwood Ave., Erie, PA 16508 or the Flagship Niagara League, 150 East Front St., Erie, PA 16507. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road.
