This spring when you paid your taxes, many of you took the time to sign petitions expressing your concern at the possibility of losing your local tax collector.

The Legislative Finance & Budget Committee was commissioned to do a year long study looking at all aspects of property and school tax collection across the Commonwealth. The study was completed on June 28th and the results have been released. Their main finding is that tax collection the way it is done now, is the most cost efficient.

Nothing says that at some point in time the legislature would not look at this again, but for now you will still be able to pay your taxes in person and receive the same services you have become accustomed to.

The tax collectors in North East as well as across the state can thank our constituents for taking an active part in helping us maintain our jobs.
