Arundel Cellars & Brewing Co. and Tamarack Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center are co-hosting “Raptors at Arundel,” a free, family-friendly event on Saturday, June 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 11727 E. Main Road (Route 20), in North East.

Tamarack educators will be on hand with their live ambassador birds of prey, including a selection of falcons, hawks and owls.  During “Raptors at Arundel,” Arundel Cellars & Brewing Co. will be offering free samplings of their Falcon Red wine.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Arundel to give residents and visitors to northwestern Pennsylvania the opportunity to meet native birds of prey up close and personal,” said Carol Holmgren, Executive Director of Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center. “It is a privilege to partner with the fine staff of this winery and brewery, and we appreciate their support.”

Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center is a non-profit organization serving northwest Pennsylvania, whose mission is to treat injured wildlife to enable their return to the wild, and to promote appreciation and understanding of wildlife through education.

“During the massive renovation of our 19th century barn, we discovered a nest of three infant Kestrel Falcons in the barn wall,” added Lauri Boettcher, partner and winemaker at Arundel Cellars & Brewing. “After diligent efforts to reunite them with their parents were unsuccessful, Tamarack took them in, and all three survived.”

To show their gratitude and to assist in their unwavering efforts to bring many other creatures to good health, Arundel donates a portion of the proceeds from Falcon Red wine to Tamarack year-round.

Falcon Red is a blend of locally grown grapes with a black pepper aroma and taste coupled with the flavor of dark cherry. This dry red wine is best paired with beef, pork and pasta with red sauce.

Pints of craft beer, glasses of premium wine, soft drinks, sandwiches, wraps and finger foods will be available for purchase at this child-friendly event.

Arundel Cellars & Brewing Co. is a winery and brewery headquartered in a beautifully restored 19th century barn nestled among the vineyards of scenic North East. Arundel enjoys the unique position of being the first winery in the area offering both premium wine and craft beer.  Together, the Arundel family has more than 100 years of combined grape-growing and wine-making experience.
