Grand opening Parkside

Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50th) gives some remarks, along with other state and local officials, at a grand opening ceremony for the new Parkside at Corry senior living community on Thursday afternoon. The facility, which began accepting residents earlier this year, is located on Shamrock Lane next to Corry Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of LECOM Health. The ceremony included a ribbon cutting with members of Blue Zones Project Corry, as the site is the first of four Parkside locations in Erie County to be granted Blue Zones status. Other aspects of the open house were building tours, a cooking demonstration and a crash course in Yoga. Besides Brooks, also in attendance were Barb Nichols, president and CEO of CMH; Mayor Dave Mitchell; Melissa Lyon, director of the Erie County Department of Health; Matt Bresee, vice president of business development for the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging; and Dr. James Lin, president of LECOM's Institute for Successful Aging.
