Sparty playground takes shape

Playground equipment has arrived and is ready to be installed at Spartansburg Elementary School. A tree-top style tower, complete with a roof, is already standing. The equipment costs $50,000, and the Spartansburg Parent-Teacher Association is holding various fundraisers to pay for the playground. A crew will put up the equipment. Volunteers are needed to finish work on the playground Saturday, starting at 8 a.m. At least 20 men are needed to bring tools and complete installation, and 10 to 15 women are needed to help serve lunch, clean up, and take care of other miscellaneous duties. Anyone who is interested in helping can call Jen Yatsko at 665-1206 or Lori Schweitzer at 694-3534. The new playground is replacing the elementary school’s old wooden playground.
