SPARTANSBURG — Payments on late sewer bills, concerns about new construction, and an indecency ordinance were the topics of discussion at Spartansburg Borough Council’s recent monthly meeting.
Council heard from resident Stephanie Mraz, who approached council about a previous agreement the two parties made about Mraz’s sewer bills, late fees and penalties.
Mraz said she has been charged late fees the past three months, which was not part of the agreement.
Council concurred that its accounting system has been adding late fees that Mraz is not responsible for paying.
Council, per the agreement, said Mraz will be charged late fees for current bills only, and not for past years.
In other business concerning past-due sewer bills, Secretary Rhonda Hopkins told council that Angie Northrop has paid in full the amount she owed for past sewer bills. Council had filed a complaint against Northrop with District Judge Amy Nicols of Titusville, who ruled in council’s favor.
Northrop had owed more than $1,000. She paid money owed for service to Angie’s Amish Furniture and Sparty Market buildings.
