Third Thursdays

The next installment in Impact Corry’s Third Thursdays Small Town, Big Business series is called The Art and Science of Talent Acquisition and Candidate Vetting. The presentation will be given by Rossbacher Insurance partner Scott Fogle.

The session will be on Zoom at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Fogle has devised a methodical process for hiring prospective employees that avoids bias and has proven to be successful.

“What’s more critical than who you hire?” Fogle said. “This scientific method is repeatable and consistent.”

With a step-by-step interactive presentation, Fogle will share how the hiring process, he believes, should be aligned with the culture of a company and how using the highest level of critical thinkers in a company should also be part of the hiring process.

Fogle says team leaders have to be part of the vetting process. Working to get a good hire from the beginning and offering a job that people can be excited about is key, Fogle said. This method of hiring allows for adaptability to any company.

Fogle brings decades of experience in identifying top candidates through work at Rossbacher as well as financial and operations consulting for a variety of companies.

He is a 1982 graduate of Corry Area High School and went on to graduate from Clemson University with a degree in financial management.

The Third Thursday sessions are made possible by a Mission Main Street grant from the Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority.

Impact Corry board member Erin Passinger said the funds were awarded in 2019.

“The funds, which totaled $140,000, are enabling our downtown businesses to make exterior improvements to their building, while also providing ongoing educational opportunities in an effort to make each Corry-area business a success,” Passinger said. “Third Thursdays is one example of those educational opportunities,” she added.
