Defending their turf
The Corry Beaver football team is home today on the new artificial turf with a 7 p.m. kickoff against the Girard Yellowjackets. School crews have been working throughout the morning and afternoon to prepare Howard J. Sheen Field for tonight’s much-anticipated event, including hooking up the scoreboard and sound system. The 2-0 Beavers were originally told they would play their first home game on Oct. 2 (Homecoming), but there was a change of plans Thursday morning when school administration announced the field would be ready for today. Above, wide receiver Craig Marti, left, and running back Mitchell Anderson — who both predicted a victory over Girard — stand at Corry’s east end zone.
