UNION CITY — Police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians will rush to Caflisch Park next Tuesday.

But their visit won’t be for a life-or-death emergency.

The first-responders, along with other volunteers and organizations, will be reporting for duty at Union City’s eighth annual National Night Out on Willow and Bridge streets.

The free event that promotes community safety will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Union City Borough Police, the Union City Family Support Center and the United Way once again are sponsoring National Night Out.

And you don’t have to be from Union City to attend. People from Corry and other surrounding communities are invited, too.

“It’s a great celebration,” said Pat Vallimont, the support center’s coordinator of family group decision-making. “This gets the community together.”
