Sandra K. Myers will continue to guide Union City schools for the next five years.

The Union City School Board Monday, by an 8-0 vote, reappointed Myers as superintendent of schools in the district. The contract for Myers, who was first hired as superintendent in May 2002, is effective July 1, 2010, through June 30, 2015.

Several other top district officials also were awarded five-year contracts, at Monday’s monthly school board meeting.

Now in the final year of a five-year contract, Myers currently earns $112,885 per year.

Once the new contract takes effect, Myers will receive a yearly pay increase of 2 percent greater than the rate the district negotiates with its teachers’ bargaining unit, the Union City Area Education Association.

That professional contract amount has not been determined because the union and the district are not scheduled to begin negotiations until January, school district Business Manager Rebecca Stuart said.

Assistant Superintendent Alisa Willey also was awarded a five-year contract, effective Oct. 12, 2009, through Oct. 11, 2014.

Willey, who makes $85,000, per year, was hired in 2008. She will receive yearly pay increases of 1.25 percent greater than the rate to be worked out between the district and the teachers’ union.
