In what FirstEnergy Corp. is calling a consolidation, 10 linemen who work out of Penelec’s Corry station on First Avenue will be transferred to the Erie station.

The move will not affect the meter readers, who will still operate out of the Corry station, said Ellen Raines, director of public relations for FirstEnergy Corp., Penelec’s parent company.

“The company is planning to consolidate the 10 line workers who currently report to the Corry Service Center into the Erie Service Center,” Raines said.

Raines said the change is being made to enhance service and response time to customers.

“This change does not affect the number of crews that will be available to serve our customers in the Corry area, only the reporting location,” Raines said. “In fact, it may result in more line workers being in the area on any given day.”
