Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, a 1994 grad of Corry Area High School, was recently sworn in as the newly elected district attorney of McKean County.

She is the daughter of Shirley Marshall and the late Stephen Vettenburg, of Corry.

Judge John Pavlock, McKean County president, conducted the swearing in ceremony in front of a large audience comprised of family, friends and community members.

Vettenburg-Shaffer defeated Ray Learn to win the primary election in May, receiving 2,471 votes to his 2,250. She did not have a challenger in the November general election.

“This year was about the campaign,” said Vettenburg-Shaffer. “Now our focus is on the job, and we will be prepared.”

Many officer holders’ spouses held the Bible while Pavlock administered the oaths. This was the case for Vettenburg-Shaffer, who had her husband Brian hold the Bible.
