COLUMBUS TOWNSHIP — A Columbus Township man remained at Corry Memorial Hospital today with injuries he suffered when he crashed his motorcycle Wednesday morning.

John T. Burge, 58, suffered moderate injuries in the crash, which occurred at 7:10 a.m. on Pine Valley Road, just north of Route 957.

State police at Corry reported Burge, who was southbound, was rounding a left curve when a deer entered the path of his 2008 Harley-Davidson Road Glide. Burge switched lanes in an attempt to avoid the deer, but the deer stopped and went back into the path of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle’s front tire hit the deer, and Burge was separated from the motorcycle, and ended up on the side of the road.

The motorcycle continued to slide on its left side back across the road and hit an embankment.

Burge was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Burge will not be cited, state police said.
