SPARTANSBURG — Volunteers are still needed to help install Spartansburg Elementary School’s new playground equipment Saturday starting at 8 a.m.

As of today, around 20 men have signed up to help with the installation, and 10 to 15 women have confirmed that they will help serve lunch, clean up, and attend to other miscellaneous duties.

Jen Yatsko and Lori Schweitzer, members of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association who are spearheading the playground project, are asking as many volunteers as possible to show up.

“The more community help we receive, the better it will turn out,” Schweitzer said about the playground. “It also reflects on the kids, seeing adults turn out and help. It’s teamwork.”

Although there is a 60 percent chance of rain for Saturday, Yatsko is undaunted.
