Police News

Over the weekend, posts began popping up on a Concerns for Corry, Pa. Facebook site about suspicious vans in the Spartansburg area. Some posts claimed that people from the vans were attempting to abduct Amish women and children.

Cpl. Brian Palm with state police at Corry said patrol units were sent to respond to a call Friday about a suspicious white or red van in the Spartansburg area. Upon arriving, nothing alarming was found.

"We don't have anything as far as any reports of any abductions, attempted abductions or anything along those lines," Palm said.

After that initial call, there were no other calls received regarding further reports or complaints, Palm said.

Palm encourages the community to call state police at Corry at 814-663-2043 if any suspicious activity is spotted.

"If people are concerned, they need to be calling us, not putting it on Facebook," Palm said. "We need to know about it."

The state police do not monitor Facebook, and Palm continued to say if people are seeing or hearing anything concerning, they need to call into the state police and a trooper will definitely go to the area and research the claim.
