At the end of tonight's Corry Area School Board meeting, a new member will be appointed to fill a vacant board seat.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the administration building.
After all other business, five potential candidates will be interviewed individually by the current eight-member board.
The candidates are Jim Wojcicehowski, Bob Hopkins, Scott Chelton, Chris Johnson and Erin Bisbee — all residents of the Corry Area School District.
The interviews will take place in public and will be open to audience members. After the interviews conclude, the board will have a public discussion.
A board member must then make a motion to select a candidate and a vote will take place. With eight board members, a candidate would need at least five votes to win the majority.
Once a candidate is selected, that individual is expected to be immediately sworn in and fill the ninth seat.
The board seat became open on April 4 after the resignation of Delbert I. Liller II, who stepped down for personal reasons.
The individual selected tonight will serve through November 2017.
If that individual would like to continue serving on the board beyond the appointed term, he or she will be required to run in the next local election, including the May 2017 primary and November 2017 general election. The candidate may seek a two- or four-year seat.
