UNION CITY — The Union City Area School Board has a new president and two new members.
George Trauner, who was elected to a four-year term on the board in November 2007, will take over for former President Loretta Price.
School directors elected Trauner to the one-year post Monday at the board’s annual reorganization meeting.
Blain Blakeslee, who is serving his third term as school director, was re-elected as board vice president.
The board’s two newest directors also officially took their places on the nine-member board.
Newcomers Lori Lewis and Brian Niggel, who were elected in the recent November election, were sworn into office and will serve for the next four years.
Incumbent directors Jeffrey Ferringer and Janet Kirik also were re-elected to four-year terms. Ferringer took his oath of office; Kirik was excused from attending the meeting.
Outgoing school board members are Charles Thompson and Nancy Cole, who did not seek re-election.
The board also approved its 2010 meeting schedule.
Regular meetings will continue to be held the second Monday of each month, with the exception of June, July and December, at 7 p.m. in the large-group instruction room at Union City Elementary School, 91 Miles St.
The June meeting will be held on the first Monday — the 7th. The annual reorganization meeting will be held the first Monday in December — the 6th — at 7 p.m. and will be followed by the regular monthly meeting.
The board usually does not meet in July, unless necessary.
Committee of the whole meetings are scheduled for the fourth Monday of each month, with the exception of May, July and December, at 6:30 p.m. in the district administration conference room, 107 Concord St.
No committee meetings are scheduled in July or December.
Rounding out the school board are directors Tracy Daggett and Jennifer Gourley.
