UNION CITY — Rain didn’t stop Noah.

And the recent deluge won’t stop St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

The church’s annual lawn festival at 9 Third Ave. will go on as planned today from 5 to 9 p.m. — rain or shine.

“We’ve moved a lot of the activities inside the parish center,” said the Rev. Tom Suppa, church pastor. “Thank God we’ve got a fine facility here. Things should work out pretty well.”

The lawn festival, one of the church’s largest fundraisers, includes pony rides, games, food, raffles, a bake sale, music and more. Prizes will be awarded at 9 p.m.

If the weather clears, some of the activities may be moved back outside, Suppa said. Still, the festival will go on — even if more rain falls.

“Rather than create a lot of anxiety, we’re just going to go with it,” Suppa said.
