FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — A Pittsfield man will face attempted homicide and related charges after he allegedly fired a rifle over the top of a 28-year-old woman early this morning.

State police at Corry charged John Paul Little, 32, of 311 Lake Hill Road, with criminal attempt at homicide, aggravated assault, and simple assault.

Little and the victim got into a physical fight at 1:33 a.m., and as the victim lay on the floor, Little retrieved a .243-caliber bolt-action rifle. He then shot the rifle, without warning, directly over the top of the victim, state police reported.

Police did not release the victim’s name.

Little will answer the charges in front of District Judge Cynthia Lindemuth of Youngsville.
