Police news

The city of Corry Police Department has dispelled a rumor circulating on social media about an alleged drug bust.

Comments on a social media post in an online Corry group claimed there was a methamphetamine bust at a Mead Avenue residence near the intersection with Mound Street on Tuesday evening.

The online comments alleging it was a meth bust were incorrect, according to Corry City Police interim Chief Michael Cherry.

City police officers were on Mead Avenue Tuesday night, but it was for traffic stops, not a drug bust.

"Social media blew it out of proportion," Cherry told The Corry Journal. "It was just merely my guys conducting traffic stops as they are instructed to do."
