UNION TOWNSHIP — The Union Township building at 16300 Route 8 may not be the ideal location to serve as temporary headquarters for the Union City Municipal Authority.

The authority is looking for a place to temporarily set up office and storage space. The authority office, 12 S. Main St., is closed indefinitely because the flat, rubber roof that covers the office area collapsed Friday under the weight of accumulated rainwater caused by heavy thunderstorms.

Union Township supervisors met this morning in a special meeting to discuss the possibility of letting the authority use some of its office and garage space.

“We want to help as much as we can,” Supervisor Earl Brown said.

Still, Brown said the three-member board has multiple concerns about sharing its space.

The township office does not have air conditioning, which could make the space very uncomfortable during hot, humid weather, Brown said.
