In its last scheduled meeting before school resumes Aug. 26 for the 2009-10 school year, the Corry Area School Board approved personnel items that include teaching positions, supplemental appointments and instructional staff development.

The first day for teachers is Monday, and students return to classes Aug. 26.

The board OK’d the following for personnel:

• the resignation of Jessica Munch, middle school special education learning support teacher.

• the appointment of Kevin Fallon to replace Munch. Fallon was hired as a full-time, temporary professional special education teacher at the middle-high school. Fallon will start at the beginning of the school year at a salary of $41,824 (master’s degree).

• the appointment of Debbie Bird as full-time temporary cosmetology teacher at the middle-high school. Bird replaces Denise Nichols, who retired. Bird will start at the beginning of the school year at a salary of $36,623 (vocational 1, step 4)

• the appointment of Adam Walstrom as long-term substitute science teacher at the middle-high school. Walstrom is filling in while Sara Folino is on leave of absence. He will be paid a prorated
