Corry graduate awarded $1,000 student leadership scholarship

Lyndsey Royek, a graduate of Corry Area High School, has been awarded a $1,000 Student Leader Scholarship from the Pennsylvania Dairy Stakeholders.

Royek will be a sophomore at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, where she is majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing in the department of business and computer technologies.

In college, she serves on the Student Athletic Advisory Council, is a member of the Wildcat Dance team and is vice president of public relations and recruitment for her college’s sorority.

In high school, she served as secretary of her senior class, was secretary of the National Honor Society and was captain of the varsity swim team for two years.

She was also president of her 4-H club and is also a member of the Pennsylvania Holstein Association.

Serving as Pennsylvania’s Dairy Princess in 2007-2008, Royek valued the opportunity to speak about the industry she loves to a wide audience, helping lead her to her career path of marketing and promoting the dairy industry and honing her leadership and public speaking skills.

Her goal is to help the dairy industry find a voice to create understanding, empathy and appreciation for an evolving industry.

She is the daughter of Walter and Lisa Royek of Corry.
